Award Recognizes Leadership, Sustained Innovation and Business Growth

Burlington, VT (PRWEB) April 02, 2012

Draker Laboratories, the industry's leading independent provider of turnkey monitoring and asset management solutions for commercial and utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, today announced that its CEO, Charles ‘Chach’ Curtis, has been selected by the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) as the 2012 Vermont State Small Business Person of the Year.
The selection criteria for this prestigious award include leadership and delivery of sustained sales and employment growth, strong financial performance, innovation of products and services, and contributions to community. Over the past three years Mr. Curtis has led Draker to over 250% annual growth while growing employment at its Vermont location from less than 10 to over 50 today. In notifying Mr. Curtis of his selection, the SBA particularly noted his “hard work, innovative ideas, and dedication to community” among the keys to his success.
Cairn Cross, Managing Director of Fresh Tracks Capital, a Vermont-based venture capital firm focused on start up businesses and an investor in Draker, nominated Curtis for Small Business Person of the Year. “Chach is a well-deserving recipient of this year’s award,” commented Cross. “It is my hope that recognition of Chach and of the Draker story may also prove instructive to all of us who strive to create a vibrant Vermont economy through the growth of small businesses.”
Mr. Curtis and his fellow SBA award recipients from around the country will be recognized during National Small Business Week in May in Washington, D.C. Additionally, Mr. Curtis will be locally honored by the U.S. SBA on June 14 in Shelburne, VT, in a ceremony presented by Vermont Business Magazine.
